Scientific Expedition at Mt. Trusmadi

Wheeee, juz back from an xpdc last week plus away from internet for another 1 week before coz amende Telekom punya terbakar di Sandakan.

So i will make it short. The Scientific Expedition at Mt Trusmadi was held with an objective, to observe the biodiversity in the Mt. Trusmadi area. Thus, in this xpdc, ramai researcher, n scientist, pakar pengecam pokok, orang2 wildlife n others join da club. But sadly only4 organization joining, which were Forest Research Centre (us), Wildlife department, Ums student n researcher and Born Rich (i dont know dis company)

can spot me? ;P

So, my tugasan here was, observe and make a survey on Begonia species that appear in the area with the GPS location skali. Bukan senang nak cam mana satu pokok Begonia dalam hutan tuh woh, but luckily with some guides from the seniors i manage to complete my task on the 4th day ;)

DAY 1

- Reach base camp after 6hours++ from Sandakan, using 4wd car masuk hutan memang best! nothing happen this day, kami tidur awal coz the next day we will masuk utan.

DAY 2

This day kami masuk hutan guna Orang Utan Trail, basiccaly, ni bukan trail yang cantik yang dibuat, but its a natural trail, En Julius, our head of xpdc call this tral Orang Utan Trail coz diorg jumpa orang utan di kawasan ni.

Gambr kt atas ni En. Postar, Im done research note on Begonia postarii and im lucky to meet him here, coz Begonia postarii was named after him, founder of the species. And yes he teach me a bit on how to identify which is Begonia plant in this montane forest + he is a funny guy ;)

DAY 3

Today we done observation in Hydrology trail area, need to take a car appxmtly 20mins from base camp and walk about 3hour++.

Kami ikot Botany group, what more i can say than "WOW" when Botany people can give me a specific name of the tree species(in Latin) when i ask them "pokok apa ni?". Gila expert tuh.

DAY 4

Hari relax sikit, coz kami juz jalan2 di riverside, observe Begonia sp. di cerun2 bukit tepi riverside dengan En. Pius, another kind and funny guy.

Hari ni paling best la, coz after da habis observe, En. Pius and my Boss (Ms. Rebecca) tanya,"Bai u want teruskan jalan or u want go back mandi sungai? the decision is yours" aku ngan senyum2 kambingnya, "Mau trusmandi boleh?" hahahahaha

Just aku je yang terjun mandi, coz diorang lain x nak, sejuk sangat2 air, so while aku mandi2, diorang lunch, n En. Pius and my boss ada tangkap gmbar and even video me while aku mandi2 =.="

Malam tuh we celebrate birthday Gloria, UMS student yang ambil Master, she came here to do observation and survey on bird species in Trusmadi with her bestfren Audrey. diorang ni member aku time xpdc ni.

We spend our nite with dancing, chatting, laughing and it was the best moment i had with them ;)

DAY 5

So last nite aku da cakap dengan Glo n Audrey yg aku nak ikot diorg tangkap burung today. It was my 1st time to see how they conduct a field work on how to identify bird species in forest.

Memang best, then after dat we back to base camp around 4pm++ lepas tu kami ramai2 mandi di sungai, sadly x bawak camera (>.<) me, audrey, glo, joel, postar and ramai la mandi2 di sungai yg sejuk gila tuh.

At nite is Aramaiti nite huhu, pesta la, karaoke, makan2, bbq n En. Julius sponsor 1 kotak air anggur ahahahaha, habis mabuk2 diorg cari girls to dance with them. Sadly kami ramai2 lari sembunyi hahahaha =x

Conclusionnye xpdc nih memang sangat2 best bagi aku, lots of fun, n i learn alot too! oh yar nex 2days aku akan pergi Tabin Wildlife untuk ikut staff n boss buat phenology pokok dipterocarp di sana sambil2 tengok2 binatang kat sana ;P
